I am a travel advisor with Fora, and I book luxury hotels all over the world.

I have been to more than thirty countries and stayed in hundreds of hotels across six continents, from small boutique places to full five-star luxury. That range is the useful part: it is what tells me which properties actually deliver on what they promise.

I love this. I love the research, the comparing, the back and forth with a property about whether a particular room is worth the jump. Some of the best trips I have helped plan have been to places I had never been myself, and working those out is the most enjoyable part of the job.

A few I keep going back to: Relais Christine in Paris, Rio Perdido in Costa Rica, Four Seasons Lanai, and Park Hyatt Tokyo. Four completely different places, and I would happily send you to any of them.

I am based in San Francisco. When I am not working on someone else’s trip I am usually skiing or out somewhere in the mountains, which turns out to be its own kind of research.

Every trip is different and so is every traveler. A honeymoon, a big family reunion, a long weekend somewhere warm, a few nights in a city on the way to somewhere else: they all deserve the same attention, and I am glad to take on any of them.
